THE ANCIENT NECTAR OF GHEE

What is Ojas?

Ojas (OH-JUS) is one of the three subtle forces in our body. Think of ojas as the container that holds your abundant energy. It is the ultimate energy reserve of the body and mind. The more ojas we have, the more impervious we are to the negativity of others, as our own spirit has a good, strong container. Ojas gives us an overall sense of satisfaction with life. A person with good ojas is calm and content, and has both strong immunity and endurance.

What is Ghee?

Ghee is that beautifully golden yellow substance left over after the impurities of butter have been melted away. Also known as clarified butter or anhydrous milk fat, ghee has been used for thousands of years in Ayurveda for cooking and religious ceremonies, as well as therapeutically, both internally and externally.

The ancient seers viewed ghee as more than a food substance. As with all foods, ghee holds a certain energy; a pure Sattvic energy. Sattvic foods are thought to be abundant in prana, the universal life force. They have a harmonious and peaceful nature. Sattvic foods build Ojas; supporting physical strength, a strong and pure mind, good health, and longevity.

The Benefits of Ghee

Ayurveda says the ingestion of Ghee is like offering the finest of fuels into the fires of digestion - Agni. It builds the aura, makes all the organs soft, builds up the internal juices of the body - Rasa, which are destroyed by ageing. It also increases the most refined element of digestion - Ojas, the underlying basis of all immunity and the essence of all bodily tissues.

Ghee has been referred to as ‘the single most Ojas producing food on earth’.

It is also known to increase intelligence, refine the intellect and improve the memory. Ghee is rich in healthy fats and also provides adequate amounts of energy. It contains butyric acid in nutrition which helps in maintaining your immunity level.

Ghee is also rich in omega 3 and omega 6 and is a good source of vitamins and antioxidants.
